Description
Photograph of a view of refreshments being served at the recreation of the driving of the final spike on Southern Pacific's Los Angeles-San Francisco line at Lang Station in Soledad Canyon, September 5, 1926. A long row of tables runs diagonally from the lower right corner toward the upper left. Uniformed workers on the left side of the tables serve food from the large bowls that rest on the tables to a line of people on the opposite side. Sections of the space on the right side of the table are covered by simple canopies. A crowd fills the centerground of the image, while trees and hills are visible in the background.
