In 1954, Burbank voters approved a 10-year capital improvement program to help improve city infrastructure. One project was building three overpasses to traverse the Golden State Freeway and the railroad tracks. There were the Olive, Magnolia, and Burbank bridges. In this photo, the Olive and Magnolia overpasses were complete, but the Burbank overpass was still under construction. The back of the photo is stamped "City Manager File." This image came from a collection of images donated by the Delores Palmer Estate. She was a BUSD employee for many years and authored the book "A History of Burbank."
