George Orson Wells (1915-1985), actor, director, writer and producer of film, theater and radio, was married to film actress Rita Hayworth from 1943-1948, with their union producing a daughter, Rebecca. They struggled in their marriage, with Hayworth stating that Wells did not want to be tied down and Wells blaming Hayworth for making unfounded accusations of infidelity; they became estranged in 1946 but briefly reconciled in 1947 before finally separating for good; in 1948 Hayworth filed for divorce.
Photograph caption dated November 10, 1947 reads, "Seated all alone in a corner, Rita faces a battery of photographers in what might be called the "last take" in her married life with "The Genius."
