Photograph article dated February 28, 1961 reads, "Coach Ralph Caldwell can now begin to build Valley College's 1961-62 basketball team for a 'comeback' next year following this season's second division ending. For the second consecutive year, the Valley cagemen finished in second division, however, the Monarchs finished with one of the best scorers and defensive players in junior college competition - Jack Hirsch... Hindered by his protective face mask, he gave San Diego's Art 'Hambone' Williams a top race down to the wire for the scoring crown." See image 00157394 for additional photo in this series. Photograph caption reads, "Jack Hirsch... Without mask." Photograph also used in articles dated June 24, 1964 and July 24, 1964.
