Description
The Forest Knolls Branch of the Marin County Free Library first opened in March, 1946 at a site shared with the Post Office. Soon, the library moved to a small building (pictured here) owned by Mr. Roberts. The San Geronimo Valley area was originally served by the Lagunitas Branch which was established in 1929. During the summer of 1945, after the library lost their space at the Lagunitas School, a bookmobile service was implemented at five stations: Nicasio, Lagunitas, Forest Knolls, San Geronimo, and Woodacre. Forest Knolls proved to be the most active stop, and was thus selected as the site of a library branch.
