Description: Caption from November 14, 1965 Sacramento Bee reads "PIONEER REMEMBERED - Bill Nakano, 31, of Mill Valley, Marin County, places flowers on the grave of Rachael Melton, who died Oct. 4, 1850, on the Emigrant Trail in Amador County. Nakano, a native of Calif. 88 area, reached the site on Calif. 88 on a 200-mile bicycle trip from Jackson. The grave is marked as "Maidens Grave."
