Attractive young women have made their appearance as service station attendants at a number of stations of Tide Water Associated Oil Company in Los Angeles and San Francisco as of July 27, 1942--during World War II. Enid Pratt shows a customer how efficiently she can check tire pressure while Alice La Cava does a spotless job of polishing the windshield at a station in San Francisco.
