Description
John Settem, Valley steam plant operator, checks pictures on television screens of 12 burners that provide heat for the boiler on July 8, 1955. The television camera is protected from the 3,000 degree heat of the burners by a thermal lens shield consisting of glass and fine wire screen and a blast of cool air.
