Photograph of McKinley training a horse, ca.1900. The darkly-colored horse stands straight and confident at center with the raised chin facing the left. Straps wrap across the horse's glistening coat and attach it to the small cart which McKinley drives on the right. The small, elderly man wears a suit, tie and hat and sits in a small chair with relatively large wheels. In his left hand he holds the bridal, while in the right he holds a long, rigid whip. The wooden fence to the training yard stands in front of trees and electrical poles in the background.
