Description
Pictured in 1961, at 432 J Street, is the Terzakis Brothers’ tailoring shop. The brothers, Thomas and Nicholas, were natives of Greece, having immigrated to the United States in 1905, then moving to Sacramento in 1916. Nicholas previously owned and operated a tailor shop for 40 years at 924 Eighth Street. With redevelopment on the city’s west side looming, the brothers retired in 1962. The photograph shows the Fifth Street side of the business, which was based in the Travelers Hotel at 428 J Street. The hotel was built in 1914.
