Young Hopi girl standing beside pueblo walls with a blanket around her shoulders. Signed on mount: "Frederick Monsen." Title supplied by cataloger. Monsen's typed label on back says: "Oraibi, Arizona. Oraibi was the largest of the Hopi pueblos until dissensions occurred among the people owing to the influence of the missionaries. Containing over a thousand Indians in 1900, it is now practically deserted. The picture shows a young matron of the village."
