Description
Shown in this image is the facade of the California State Library and Courts building in 1939. The structure was located at Tenth and M streets. In the year of this photo, the Sacramento Bee newspaper noted that the California State Library had the third largest collection of volumes among state libraries in the United States, only behind Massachusetts and New York. The architectural firm Weeks and Day was awarded the contract for design.
