Description: The caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 29, 1972 states: "Hughes and Ladd, Inc. of Redding has nearly completed the last section of Interstate 5 at Lake Shasta between Redding and Mount Shasta. The 4.6 mile section is being paved with Portland cement and is scheduled for opening Oct. 6. The contract total for the project is $5,349,735."
