Originally known as the Hebrew Sheltering Home for the Aged, the Jewish Home for the Aging was founded in Boyle Heights in 1912. About four years later, the Home's first permanent facility was built on Boyle Avenue, where it existed for decades. In 1967, acreage in Reseda was purchased and a facility was built on Victory Boulevard. A merger in 1979 with the Menorah Village created a second campus on Tampa Avenue in Reseda. Photograph caption dated December 12, 1955 reads, "Honor Reseda couple - Morris Teitelbaum, 85, and wife Bertha, 78, residents of California Home for Aged at Reseda, receive award as Man and Woman of Year at Silver Plate Dinner in Beverly Hilton Hotel.
