Description
Three-quarter length portrait of seated women. 2012-1298. Frances Jane Timmons married Andrew Jackson Grayson in 1842. The family came overland in 1846 with the William M. Boggs party. She and her husband settled first in San Francisco, later in San Jose. In 1859, the family moved to Mexico where Grayson pursued his interest in ornithology. He died in 1869. Frances returned to California and in 1872 married George Belden Crane, who had vineyards in the Napa Valley. She died in 1908. Sonora Louisa Hicklin was born in Missouri in 1826 to John and Margaret Hicklin. Married William Montgomery Boggs in 1846. Came to California that same year via overland route. She died in 1902.
