Description: Response to letter from Dr. Kawaichi, Item csudh_rsp_1115. Letter refers to the sale of a pump on land subleased by Dr. Kawaichi to Mr. Hamada who was removed, referring to the mass removal ("evacuation") of persons of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast as directed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Executive Order 9066. Letter states Mr. Hamada asked for the pump to be sold and credited to Dr. Kawaichi's rental account.
