The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on October 28, 1970 states: "An unidentified woman, above left, consoles Pit Indian Gordon Montgomery who is grounded in the clash of officers and Indians east of Burney. Officers, above center, carry off a struggling Indian. In the picture at right above (subject photo), an Indian mother risks getting near the action with her baby in arms. . . . ":
