Description
This is a photo of an earlier, undated photo of a Native American man aiming a rifle from his crouched position behind a rock wall taken by Eadweard Muybridge. The caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on August 14, 1966 states: "This scout employed by the U.S. Army wears typical Indian dress at the time of the Modoc War. The leather pouch at his side held metal tubes containing seven cartridges for the Spencer rifle."
