Description
The photo caption in the Sacramento Bee, January 26, 1969, states: "Tons of mud, trees and boulders slid down across three lanes of U. S. 50 west of Riverton, El Dorado County, yesterday after rains softened the earth to mud. Highway crews had to blast the large boulder, center, to remove it. Traffic slipped by one lane at a time. Earlier, another slide one-half mile east blocked two lanes of traffic."
