Description
Photograph of an ocean view (from the bay or the "golden gates") of San Francisco's Fort Point, ca.1897. The three- or four-story fortress and raised stone quay which skirts it create an austere front on the choppy ocean. A high steep embankment at right is topped by a few houses. A large group of people is standing on the quay.
