Description
Image of a group of soldiers lounging near a fire and in various states of repose on a rocky outcropping overlooking New River in West Virginia during the American Civil War; rifles with bayonets stacked against each other upright near seated men; river flowing through a forest landscape visible in background below.
This title is part of a set published as the Album of the Campaign of 1861 in West Virginia. Cincinnati : Ehrgott, Forbriger & Co., 1862. "Printed by Ehrgott, Forbriger & Co. Cincinnati."--text, bottom right margin. "Sketched fr. nature & drawn on stone by J. Nep. Roesler Corpl. of Color Guard Comp. G. 47th. Regt. O.V.-U.S.A."--text, bottom left margin. "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1862 by J. Nep. Roesler in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the Southern District of Ohio."--text, bottom center margin.
