Description
Image of a Machado family adobe on Rancho La Ballona (present-day Culver City, California) with a figure under a covered porch, a dog, and a sharpening wheel seen in the middle of the image.
"The Machado Home"--text, handwritten on negative. Title transcribed from negative; date range approximated by cataloger based on the year that film negatives came into use and the latest known dates indicated for other Hazard images in the Huntington's collection. Machado Ranch, originally granted to Don Ygnacio Machado was known as Rancho La Ballona and consisted of 14,000 acres.
