Description: Biography/History: Ignacio Ruiz is an executive board member for UNITE HERE Local 11. For over forty years, he worked at the Century Plaza Hotel as a banquet server and as a chief shop steward in his union. Originally from the state of Michoacán in México, where he worked as a farm laborer from a young age, Ignacio came to the United States in 1968 and worked his way up from his original position as a dishwasher. He is an active member of the negotiations committee at the Century Plaza Hotel.
