It is believed that this structure is the Mayūra Parivena, a place of higher learning or a residence for monks. The present structure is 66 feet by 45 feet. The capitals of the pillars are sculpted with images of dwarfs, a motif that also is found elsewhere. The entrance includes a short flight of steps with makara balustrades but no guardstones. A moonstone was noted in the signage. Based on the architectural features of the Anuradhapura period, this has been identified as belonging in the pancavana category of buildings. Half-tiles, bricks, pottery, iron nails and beads have been discovered among the remains of the building.
