Description
Image of an outdoor scene with explorer Christopher Columbus presenting Native Americans before the throne of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in Barcelona, Spain, with servants, soldiers, onlookers, and buildings in background.
Producer Imre Kiralfy's historical spectacle Columbus and the Discovery of America was presented by Barnum & Bailey for two seasons in 1892 and 1893. The Strobridge Lithographing Company printed at least nineteen different poster designs advertising the production. "B 17"--text, upper right of title banner. "Copyrighted by Imre Kiralfy 1891"--text, bottom left of image. "The / Strobridge / Lith Co / Cin NY Lon"--text, bottom right of image. "Columbus presenting the living Aborigines, with other proofs of the new found world, before the throne of Ferdinand and Isabella at Barcelona. / Amazement and gratification of the assembled chivalry and court of Spain."--text, continuation of title, bottom caption.
