Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption reads: "The tractor stayed on the transition ramp 40 feet above, its driver trapped inside and critically injured. The tanker, carrying 6,500 gallons of crude oil, plunged to the pavement of the Long Beach Freeway where it crosses the San Bernardino, spilling half its sticky cargo. Traffic was stalled all day long as work crews cleaned up. The driver, Philip M. Ferris, 42, was freed from the cab by paramedics and taken to a hospital for emergency surgery."
