Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph article dated January 16, 1954 partially reads, "Celebrations marking the 107th anniversary of the Treaty of Cahuenga are scheduled for today and tomorrow with dignitaries from Mexico and Southern California in leading roles. Tonight in Hollywood Gov. Braulio Maldonado of Baja California will speak at a commemoration dinner. In Studio City tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. ceremonies will take place at Campo de Cahuenga Recreation Center, 3919 Lankershim Blvd, approximate site of the actual signature conference. Signed Jan. 13, 1847, by Gen. Andres Pico for Mexico and Lt. Col. John C. Fremont for the United States, the Treaty of Cahuenga halted fighting for possession of California and resulted in transfer of nearly one half million square miles of territory to the United States." Photograph caption reads, "Treaty signer - One hundred and seven years ago Mexico and the United States signed Treaty of Cahuenga, ceding California. One of the signers was Gen. Andres Pico, above. Ceremonies marking treaty are being held tonight in Hollywood and tomorrow in Studio City."
