The leper ward was built on a spur of land called Gatheru, above the Kamara valley, and had four rooms sleeping two patients each. The ward was funded by the Mission to Lepers with an annual grant of £240. ❧ This image is from the first years of the Chogoria mission in Kenya, which was run by the Rev. Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974), from the collection entitled ‘Chogoria, 1922. The early days.”
