Description
Image is pasted to a board with a stand; could be used as advertisement in a travel agency. "S.S. Lurline Matson to Hawaii"--below the image in the lower right corner. This image depicts the Lurline as she was after her wartime service as a troopship and subsequent conversion back into a passenger liner. Image appears to be a copy of the prewar image seen in priMISC/M KM0181, with alterations made to the ship to bring it in line with the postwar conversion; q.v. the stacks and the bow. "Pomona Travel Agency[,] Charlotte Davis[,] 106 So. Thomas St. Ly. 2-6919[,]Pomona, California"--on verso, stamp in green ink, lower right corner. The Lurline operated from 1932 to 1941, and then, after World War II service as a transport, from 1948 to 1963 for the Matson Navigation Company; she was the third vessel so named. Focus of item: Lurline (1932-1963).
