This is a photograph of Fr. Burke posing with a young child in front of a tree. The child wears a hat and carries a purse. Born in Ireland, Fr. Burke came to this country in 1914. He entered Maryknoll in 1920. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 27, 1929 and that same year was assigned to Kongmoon China. In 1940 he was assigned to work among the Chinese in Cleveland, Ohio until 1943. He then went to Chicago where he again ministered to the Chinese.
