Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
East Los Angeles College is a two-year community college located at 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, in Monterey Park. ELAC, as it is known, is the largest campus in the Los Angeles Community College District, with an enrollment of 20,000 students. It was located in northeastern East Los Angeles (hence the name) before that part of unincorporated East Los Angeles was annexed by Monterey Park in the early 1970s. Some notable alumni have included: Antonio Villaraigosa, Gloria Molina, Art Torres, Bob Pacheco (Politicians); Leroy D. Baca (Sheriff of Los Angeles); Kent Twitchell (Muralist); Edward James Olmos (Actor); and MC Hammer (Entertainer), among others.
