Description
Image of children ascending the steps of the allegorical "Hill of Science" encouraged by a female teacher at the center of a diploma issued to Mary Elizabeth Curtis in 1848; elaborate border with flowers, telescope, boy, girl, animals, and other images.
"Lith. of G.W. Endicott N. York"--text, bottom margin of center image." Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1845 by O.O. Wickham in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the Southern District of N.Y. Published by J.S. Redfield, Clinton Hall New York."--text, bottom center margin.
