Description
A man stands on top of Alum Rock Park "Meteor." A second man stands on the hillside. Between the men is a sign identifying the meteor. This was a major tourist attraction in the park, although some scientists believed it was not a true meteor but merely an outcropping of rock. Because of its high manganese content, during WWI the meteor was broken up and taken away for smelting as part of the war effort.
