Supplementary material reads: "Gershon. City desk. Illus. Col. Bryant, Nurses Army Chief. Story phoned in. Col. Ruby Bryant, Chief of Army Nurses' Corps, and only woman holding rank of Colonel in that corps today, is shown talking to PFC Donald Bates convalescing in Fort MacArthur's Hospital. The Colonel is on two weeks tour of Sixth Army Area Hospitals".
