Photograph article dated May 25, 1948 reads, "Five kids, born to a grade Saanen doe, owned by Duane Adams, 12636 Bromont st., San Fernando, were thriving today. Breeders say the birth of quintuplets to a doe is quite rare, especially when they survive their first few hours of life. The quints, sired by a purebred Nubian, 'Katrein's Duke,' are black, brown and white. Adams said he will raise them to help increase his herd to 150 milking goats at the new diary he is building in Pacoima Canyon. At present he is milking 30 goats, but intends to expand to a full time diary operation in the future."
