Description
The California Fruit Building provides the vantage point for this circa 1940 photograph. Beyond the rear of the Travelers Hotel, the distance reveals, from left to right, the Elks building, the California Western State Life Insurance building and the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. In the lower left portion of the photograph is the El Rey Theater at 519 J S. In February 1941, the El Rey would be gutted by fire.
