Description
Photograph of color painting of a sailing ship on the sea, showing single ship and seagulls in background, ca.1700. At center, the hull of the large sailing ship can be seen moving against the choppy waves. Two large masts are visible near the center of the ship, and a small angled mast is seen extending from the bow. Ropes and ladders are strewn about the ship connecting parts of the masts to the deck. Four large sails are visible on each mast, and three triangular sails are seen attached to the small mast at the bow. In the background, a small group of seagulls can be seen flying above the blue-green water. To the right, a single ship moves across the water. Small white clouds are seen in a mostly blue sky.
