Description
Two women in afternoon dress for March 1800. The woman on the left wears a light pink dress and white gloves and shoes. Her sleeves are elbow length with three tiers of narrow white ruffles. Her collar is edged with the same white ruffle. Her waist is defined by a gold band. She wears a headpiece made of two large feather plumes and a gold headdress of three bands. She wears gold drop earrings. The woman on the right wears a simple white dress with a blue short sleeved overdress. The dress has a high v-neck collar that is edged with a narrow white ruffle, and white elbow length sleeves with a wider white ruffle at the hems. Her overdress is edged in a narrow band of golden brown fur. A gold band defines the waist of her white dress. She wears a white and blue feather, a large white bow, and two white flowers on her head. She wears yellow shoes and has a silver bracelet on her left arm. She wears two white bead necklaces. She sits on a blue and gold chair playing a mandolin. The woman on the left faces the other woman while holding the back of her dress with her right hand.
