Original photograph has several small stains. Newhall, named after businessman Henry Newhall, is the southernmost and oldest district of Santa Clarita. Prior to the 1987 consolidation into the city of Santa Clarita, it was an unincorporated town. Photograph article dated May 21, 1963 reads "At 47, he's past president of the Newhall-Saugus Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the board of directors of the Newhall County Water District, a director of the Upper Santa Clarita Water Agency, secretary-treasurer of the Ben Sher Mutual Water Co., a charter member of Moose, an executive committee member and past district commander of the American Legion and a member of Rotary."
