This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written to right of photo: "Building NW California and Montgomery Street formerly occupied by Wells Fargo Express Company. The stone in this building was quarried and dressed in China. It has withstood the ravages of two severe fires." Text written underneath: "Home of the San Francisco Savings Union after fire 1906." Photo is of the three-story Parrott Block which was constructed in 1852. A number of horse-drawn carriages are in evidence, along with numerous strollers. A dog is investigating something on the California Street side of the building.
