Description
Pictured is Miss Billie Jean (Moffitt) King of Long Beach, 3rd ranking woman player in the U.S. and winner of the recognized world's championship in women's doubles at Wimbledon. She is a student at Los Angeles State College. In 1967 she became the first woman to win the triple crown of singles, doubles and mixed doubles in the British and American championships since 1939. King later won the Wimbledon title 20 times and the U.S. crown 5 times. Los Angeles State College was renamed California State University, Los Angeles in 1972. Photograph date stamped May 1, 1962.
