Description
Photograph of the bustling port of Saint Nazaire, France, during World War I, ca.1916. The main waterway is at center and is surrounded by docks. Several ships are tied up on these docks, including two in the foreground at center. A very large metal boom crane is at left, and another is visible at right. The city around the port is mostly composed of long, tall buildings that likely serve as warehouses for goods brought in from the port.
