African women, girls, young men and a child are watching her. Elisabeth Wärthl (1886-?), the sister of missionary Fritz Wärthl, served the Leipzig Mission as a nurse and midwife. From 1914 to 1920 she worked in Mamba. In 1925 she came back to East Africa. Áfter having been stationed shortly in Masama she stayed until 1938 in Mamba (apart from home leave in 1932-1933).
