Description
Planché writes from the College of Arms, London, inviting the unknown recipient to meet him at his house in Bennett Street some afternoon. Written on Planché's personal stationary blazoned with his crest, a demi-lion rampant guardant holding between the paws a roundel argent charged with a cross gules surrounded by a collar of Esses. Planché's crest indicates his office of Somerset Herald of Arms in Ordinary, an officer of arms at the College of Arms in London. Planché was appointed to the office in 1866 and held it until 1872.
