Description
Three Contra soldiers carry containers along a road at El Porvenir Farm, located two kilometers from the Honduras-Nicaragua border, in June 1983. The two Contras on the left of the image share the weight of a black pot while the Contra following closely behind them carries a yellow bucket by himself. All three soldiers are armed. Walking in opposite direction are two other Contra soldiers both carrying their FN FAL assault rifles over their shoulders. In the background there are several dilapidated structures and the mountains of the Nicaraguan countryside. They are all members of the Nicaraguan Democratic Force (FDN in Spanish), whose members are known informally as "Contras."
