Photograph caption dated April 4, 1956 reads, "Larry Newcomb of Northridge hands snack to Ruth Marsh, Southern California Gas Company home economist, at canteen financed by state Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation. Newcomb, suffering from defective sight, was trained for new job and financed by bureau. Waiting turn on food line are John Petty, left, and Lester Pickup." Newcomb is pictured in his canteen located at the Southern California Gas Co. in Van Nuys.
