Description
John Murray (left), and Cliff Auvil, check readings on determining accuracy of a device known as a "self-contained aspirated thermocouple," which measures the heat of gases during a forest fire. By knowing the gas temperatures, foresters have a good knowledge of the burning and combustion rate of a fire and the potential danger to the adjacent areas. Photo dated: December 10, 1966.
