Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. A passport photo of Lupe taken before she started a student exchange program while in college in Chile. Lupe came to the United States as a student in 1959 and met her husband, who is of Amish descent, at school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They later settled in Montebello. She later graduated from Whittier College after starting a family.
