Article accompanied by map and images of overland route to California.
View 1 (2008-0824). "Map of the overland mail route from St. Louis and Memphis to San Francisco" -- view 2 (2008-0825). "Overland mail route - crossing the Pecos River". Shows river, two men on right bank holding ropes crossing the river to the wagon and men on left bank. Passing mail bags from one bank to the other -- view 3 (2008-0826). "The prairie dog" -- view 4 (2008-0827). "Overland mail - first meeting of the coaches in Guadalupe Pass". Shows rocky road, two coaches with horses, lanterns and drivers coming towards each other.
