Musical quotation at beginning of song is a quotation of the beginning bars of "Schlafe, mein Prinzchen, schlaf' ein," spuriously attributed to Mozart as K. 350 (Anh. C 8.48). Composer given in Köchel’s Chronologisch-thematisches Verzeichnis sämtlicher Tonwerke Wolfgang Amadé Mozarts, 6th ed. as Bernhard Flies. Kreissig incorporates quoted thematic material into this composition.
